This activity begins with an an hour long guided of Te Ana Maori Rock Art Centre. Te Ana houses eight pieces of ancient Maori rock art set in a world class interactive exhibition, led by our local Maori guides. From Te Ana, guest follow our guides to the limestone caves at Opihi to veiw the iconic Opihi Taniwha rock art site, and explore the art in the places it was created by our ancestors many centuries ago.
Tour runs 7 days, from 1st October to 30th April. Closed December 25th and 26th.
Tour departs at 2pm, from Te Ana Maori Rock Art Centre, 2 George St, Timaru
Note this tour is self drive - guests follow the guide to the site at Opihi in their own vehicles.
Tour concludes at 5pm - guests can leave the tour at Opihi, or follow the guide back to Timaru.
