A Taste of Taupo: 10 Minutes
Includes a take off from TaupoBay, turning over Acacia Bay to the headwaters of the WaikatoRiver to the Craters of the Moon. Then over the Borefields of the Wairakei Power station, following the maze of pipe work to the power station itself, followed by a circuit of the HukaFalls, over Taupo to land on the lakefront.
A Peek at the Lake: 20 Minutes
Take off from TaupoBay, past Acacia Bay to Rangatira Point, viewing the crystal clear waters of Whakaipo Bay. Climbing up through the Mapara Valley to view red scoria quarries before joining the Taste of Taupo Trail.
Boat Harbour Bonanza: 30 Minutes
This stunning trip views Taupo, Acacia Bay, Rangatira Point, Kinloch and the uninhabited Western Bays. You will see a naturally formed harbour before sweeping over farmland to the Craters of the Moon. The trip concludes with the bonus of the Taste of Taupo.
Orakei Korako: 2 Hours 15 Minutes - Flight time 30 Minutes
Take off from Taupo Bay, past Acacia Bay, Rangatira Point, viewing the crystal clear waters of Whakaipo Bay. Turning North fly past the Craters of the Moon, over farmland and forests, through hills that were once active volcanoes, before commencing our descent into the Hidden Valley of Orakei Korako. Landing on the Waikato River we tie up to a floating jetty. A walk through this geothermal paradise takes approximately one hour. On the return flight view the Huka Falls and the town before landing along the lakefront.
Mt Ruapehu Vista: 60 Minutes
Departing from Taupo Bay, we head south to overfly Turangi, Mount Pihanga, Lake Rotoaira, the Blue and Emerald Lakes and the Tama Lakes to the summit of Mount Ruapehu. A circuit of the summit allows you to view the Crater Lake and the ski fields on the slopes of Mount Ruapehu. Continuing our journey, now northward, we travel to Mount Ngauruhoe to view the centre of this classic volcano. We fly over Mount Tongariro to view the Red Crater, the Blue Lake and old lava flows before we begin our descent over Lake Taupo to land along the lakefront.
Lakes of Rotorua: 60 Minutes
Departing Taupo we follow the WaikatoRiver to overfly the Ohaaki Power Station, Waimangu & Wai-o-tapu geothermal areas to MountTarawera. Over the Blue and GreenLakes and then Rotorua city itself. Tracking south for Taupo we fly over Orakei Korako (Landing here for a walk around is optional for an extra $75.00 per person). Followed by the steaming Craters of the Moon and powerful Huka Falls.
White Island: 2 Hours
Our trip leaves Lake Taupo and we fly over the geothermal Ohaaki Power Station to Mount Tarawera. We explore the incredible fissure created by the 1886 eruption in which 108 people died. Our flight continues over Mount Edgecumbe and across the warm Pacific Ocean to New Zealand's most active volcano, WhiteIsland. Returning southward via the scenic lakes and city of Rotorua, would you care for a stroll? Perhaps a stop at the Hidden Valley of Orakei Korako would make your trip even more memorable. There is an option to land here for a one hour walk through this geothermal paradise (extra $75.00 per person), before taking in the Craters of the Moon and Huka Falls to land on Lake Taupo at Taupo township.
Taupo Trifecta: 3 Hours 15 Minutes
Take off from the Taupo Bay tracking North over the Boat Harbour and past the Craters of the Moon. Fly over farmland and forests, through hills that were once active volcanoes before descending into the Hidden Valley of Orakei Korako. Landing on the Waikato River we tie up to a floating jetty. After walking around this geothermal paradise for approximately one hour, board the black jet boat of New Zealand Riverjet. Travel through canyons and scenery otherwise inaccessible and experience the famous jet boat spin. At the end of your jet boat journey you will be met by your floatplane for your scenic return flight.
