Day 1 : Auckland to Raglan
Haere mai (welcome)! Your Stray tour kicks off in New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland. From here we head south to our overnight destination - Raglan. This world-renowned town is famous for its perfect surf breaks and stunning black sand beaches. On the way, we will visit the Bridal Veil Falls, where a short walk through beautiful native bush leads to an impressive 55m cascading waterfall. In the afternoon, you’ll have the option to take a surf lesson or explore the harbour on a kayak or stand-up paddle board. After a welcome dinner in the evening, you’ll have the chance to watch the surfers from the beach, enjoy a bush walk or take a sunset cruise – it’s up to you! Accommodation included: Raglan Sunset Motel or equivalent (3-4 star) Activities included: Bridal Veil Falls Optional paid activities: Surfing, Kayaking, Stand-up paddle boarding, Sunset Cruise (Summer only) Meal included: Welcome Dinner

Day 2 : Raglan to Rotorua (via Waitomo)
Departing early, our first stop of the day is Waitomo, a small rural town where its main attraction is in fact underground. Take a boat trip through Waitomo’s magnificent cave network where you’ll have the chance to see fossils and glow-worms up close. From here, we continue on to Matamata, where you have the option to experience the place where the real Middle Earth story began, the Hobbiton Movie Set. Explore the hills, gardens and houses that were home to Frodo and Bilbo in Peter Jackson’s epic trilogies. Those not interested in Hobbiton will head straight to Rotorua where you will have the option to visit the Tamaki Maori Village or the Polynesian Spa. At the award-winning Tamaki Maori Village, you learn about Maori art, ancient rituals and traditions and experience a delicious hangi meal and interactive cultural performance. Alternatively, a relaxing soak in one of the many geothermal pools at the Polynesian Spa is a wonderful way to finish a busy day of adventure. Accommodation included: Sudima Hotel or equivalent (3-4 star) Activities included: Waitomo caves and glow-worms Optional paid activities: Hobbiton, Tamaki Village and Polynesian Spa Meal Included: Breakfast

Day 3 : Rotorua to Taupo
We start the day by visiting the Redwood Forest for a short walk before heading to the geothermal wonderland of Wai-o-Tapu. This stunning landscape is nestled within a natural bush setting. The range of geothermal activity is extensive and includes huge volcanic craters formed by collapsing ground, geyser eruptions, steaming vents, sinter terrace formations, coloured hot and cold water springs among which is the world famous Champagne Pool. Carrying on to Taupo, we will stop at the thundering Huka Falls, NZ’s most photographed natural attraction, on the way into town. Next, we head to the town centre on the shores of Australasia’s largest freshwater lake, the Great Lake Taupo. You have the rest of the afternoon free for activities. The most popular activity here is to jump out of a plane and skydive over the lake, but you can also test your bravery with a bungy jump or a serene sailing trip on the lake. Accommodation Included: Acapulco Motor Inn or equivalent (3-4 star) Activities included: Redwood Forest walk, Wai-o-Tapu, Huka Falls Optional paid activities: Skydiving, Barberry Sailing, Bungy/Swing Meal Included: Breakfast

The first drop-off will be at Auckland Airport to drop off those people who are continuing their trip with our South Island Blue Bird Tour. For those staying in Auckland, you will be dropped off in the city centre and your tour officially comes to an end.
