Day 1 : Suggested itinerary
Guests travel with independence and freedom. We provide specialized itineraries to suit tides and to maximise guest time around the best sites to see on Fraser. Guests will get a map, tide times and write 4wd instructions to take with them.
Meals :None

Guests must make their way to River Heads Barge landing to depart on their booked ferry.  There is free public parking here or transfers can be arranged from Hervey Bay accommodation at a cost of (min) $14 per person (enquire at time of booking). We arrange transfers on the barge.  Once at Kingfisher Bay guest head to our office in the shopping village for a 30min safety briefing before departing.  On return guest should aim to be back for check in 30min before their barge departure.

Barge times: 
From Hervey Bay to Fraser Island:
6.45am, 9am

From Fraser Island to Hervey Bay:
5.00pm, 8.30pm

- Fuel (All Aussie Trax vehicles come full of fuel- on return they must be full of fuel)

- Optional Insurance Waiver (Excess is set at $4000 for both vehicles. You can reduce your excess to $500 by paying an extra $40 per vehicle per day)

All Aussie Trax vehicles are fully insured except in the following situations:

  • Driving under the influence
  • Overloading (more people than the car is allowed to carry)
  • Driving in the ocean
  • Underbody damage
  • Intentional damage (sitting on the roof or bonnet)

Staff covers these issues in more depth during the briefing

Customers may take the waiver option, which can reduce the liability . This is non-refundable and is purely a personal insurance option. It is not compulsory.

We require a credit card imprint as a bond, which is not banked unless the car is not returned satisfactorily
