Day 1 : Port Stephens Dolphins & Dunes
Discover the beautiful North Coast region of Port Stephens, with its diverse blue water paradise, its pristine waterways, golden sandy beaches, its eco diverse marina and National Parks. Nature is the centre of all that is Port Stephens and is the perfect escape from cosmopolitan Sydney. Cross the Sydney Harbour Bridge and tour through the leafy and affluent northern suburbs, travel over the Hawkesbury River, a holiday hub for boat lovers. Arrive at The Australian Reptile Park, loaded with unique exhibits and animals. Enter ‘Lost World of Reptiles’ and journey into ancient pasts, reminiscent of an Indiana Jones movie scene and Spider World with spiders that are HUGE, HAIRY & SCARY! See platypus, Tasmanian Devils, Wombats, Kangaroos, Koalas and giant Crocodiles. The next stop is Nelson's Bay in Port Stephens, where you will have approximately 1 hour to purchase lunch (own expense) before joining the dolphin watching cruise. Search for pods of bottlenose dolphins and watch as they play on the bow waves, or why not ride the boom net and get close to our friendly visitors (optional in warmer months, please bring swimwear and towel). Upon docking at the Marina, we will make our way to meet with the 1hr 4WD tour of the sand dunes. Experience the grandeur and tranquility of the local sandy wilderness, environmental and historical sights. You may also like to try sand-boarding, a thrill you will not forget. Upon disembarking the 4WD tour, you will board your coach for return transfer back to Sydney.
